if this posts as a duplicate sorry, computer went down a minute ago. Ok, When determining scale length, how is it done? Example, when you say the guitar has a 25.4" scale length, does that mean the distance from the nut to the 12th fret is 12.7" (half of 25.4) or is that just totally assbackwards or unrelated or something. Reason is, I have a neck that I built that is pretty nice and straight and sturdy and all, but when measuring from the nut to where the 14th fret will be it is 15/16" shorter than I planned. So I wanted to maybe use it for a smaller bodied guitar. |

Why were you "planning" the distance to the 14th fret? If you meant the 12th fret instead of the 14th, then you can use it for a much shorter scale length instrument. Just double the nut to 12th fret distance and that will be the scale length for the smaller bodied guitar. |

when i measured this short neck to the 14th fret, I was measuring where it would join the body. Inadvertently I made the neck nearly one inch shorter than I meant to. Thanks, for the reply, that clears some things up for me.
